One word to express my thoughts of our 30 year class reunion, Beautiful!!!!...the committee should not only be commended for this wonderful event, but should now be placed under pressure to keep this ball rolling. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many beautiful people.

Ladies (Diva's) you make the late forties look really really good, I was so proud to be a part of such an awesome group, besides a few heat flashes on the dance floor, I almost felt like I did in high school and college. This event was a wonderful occassion and I pray we stay in contact and continue to take care of ourselves and each other.

Thank you so much Class of 79 Reunion committee we love you and appreciate every hour spent, planning and sacrificing your time to make this event so worth while.

Love you,
Joyce Lawrence-Cook

Classmates of 1979 -

I cannot think of a single word which would truly do my heart justice in trying to describe this weekend...

To the 200+ classmates who joined us on Friday night ... we laughed, joked, danced and ate... and many did not want to depart when it was over at 1 a.m.

To the classmates who joined us to tour the school ... you blew us away ... we expected 25 or 30 and over 100 of you came !!!

To the 315+ classmates and guests who joined us on Saturday night ... we know that you were just as touched as the committee was to be in the presence of our principal Dr. Liggins and his wife, and the other teachers: Mr. Graham, Mrs. Harding, Mr. Stills, Ms. Gray, Coach Mayo and Coach Brown... Thanks to Gaye Collins Brown for her performance and to our awesome MC's ... Adrienne Jackson Corrothers and Walter Porter and to our classmate Steven Swann and the After Hours Band...Whew, it was all excellent!

And today, the church service and picnic in the park ... ooh what can I say? It was off the charts (in spite of the 90+ degree weather!!!). The Holy Spirit was in the house!!! The praise and worship was high ... the liturgical dance that had everyone in tears ... the memorial service that brought even more tears ... the Word was on-point and on-time ... and when Angelia Rowe Garner lead the prayer and invitation to come forth... again the tears flowed as we watched at least 5 or 6 people come forth for prayer or to give their lives to Christ!!! It was phenomenal!!

Hundreds of classmates, their families (and the neighborhood) came through to eat and fellowship! David, Ron, Willie and their picnic team went above and beyond... There was soooo much scrumptious food !!! John Frye from the Class of '78 and others with him who sang ... Aaron Byrd, Wardell Howell and Wayne Lindsey ... the music was fabulous!

How awesome was that? We wanted you to experience the "WOW" Factor this weekend ... I pray that we met our goal!!!

The Planning Committee thanks you, Class of 1979!!! We believed and achieved ... and we continue to make a difference! Don't sleep on that ...

Love Y'All Forever !!!

Charmaine Michelle

All I can say is...simply magnificent!

This entire 30th Reunion weekend exceeded above and beyond anything I could have imagined or dreamed.

I think we all (the entire class of 79) reaped the fruits of the reunion committee's labor this weekend. What a phenomonal job you all did!!!!

It was nice seeing so many former classmates, some of which I hadn't seen since the day we graduated back in 79. Some of you still look just like you did 30 years ago as if time stood still for you. Everyone looked great!

I have to piggyback on Charmaine's comment about the Church Service. There was definitely a Holy Spirit presence during the service. From the prayers, to the singing, to the spiritual dance, to the testimonies. At some point during the service I think everybody there felt it! I was certainly moved by the experience.

I just wanted to say thanks to each and everyone of you for your commitment and hard work to deliver such a wonderful weekend.

I pray that God continues to bless the McKinley Tech Class of 1979!

Ain't no party like a high school party, like the party we had at Tech reunion this weekend, sista kinda tired right about now, but it is truly good to be tired in this capacity, I can't think of a better time we had since we did the darn thing in 79'(prom, graduation and after grad dance). Our Sunday service was very special, as we name the fallen classmates, their was such a wonderful breeze that was coming in as their names were being call, man they were right on time with that breeze, I would like to thank everyone that was involved in making our reunion such a success, and all that I didn't personally thank as I was leaving the picnic, thank you all love you all, seeing everyone was just a blessing for me, may god bless each one of us and our family, hope to see everyone in October, the only way I can sum this weekend up is by saying THANK YOU JESUS!

Peace

Emmett Driggers

Greetings Classmates,
I have been sitting here at the time of this typing trying to say something original for quite a few minutes. Before I started typing, I reminisced, then laughed, felt sad and real glad about all that was done to make this past weekend one of the "Times of my Life!" I know of some classmates that could not be with us due to an ongoing crisis. As it has already been said, may we always pray and look out for each other in love! The Planning Commitee and their helpers are "Professionals!" You did your thing! It has been a therapeutic release.
May God continue to bless and highly favor you all!

To the Class of 79 reunion committee, what do you think about sponsoring a (7) day cruise as a class trip to the Carribean. Let me know what you think, I'll be happy to give you some information about it. If we plan it early a payment plan can be established making it convenient for everyone.

This weekend was "SIMPLY INCREDIBLE" for an Incredible group of people who truly has GOD's favor. The Lord has truly blessed us and allowed us an opportunity to show our children, grandchildren, family, friends, and the community the benefits of living for the Lord, and developing meaningful and healthy relationships, respect for ourselves and one another, honor, hardwork, and a commitment to excellence. This is who we are and this is what this weekend stood for. To the BEST CLASS EVER...The McKinley Tech class of 1979!!! Now, for real...have you seen a class as "INCREDIBLE" as us???
No, you haven't because there is none. MUCH Love, Joyce.

TO THE MCKINLEY TECH CLASS OF 1979 COMMITTEE MEMBERS and all of my classmates: God bless all of you. He blessed me by giving me the courage to join the reunion committee. Simply being on the committee brought me joy in a time of personal crisis that I am battling. You all uplifted me up and I spoke proudly of you to family, colleagues and other friends. I think I even brought it up with strangers!

You are immensely talented in so many ways. I've enjoyed hearing about your careers, families and other accomplishments. I've felt such happiness seeing your children, especially!

I am so glad to have participated putting these events together. I kid you not that about one week before hearing from Walt (who found me on Facebook) about the reunion, I was searching for information on our class reunion. I just knew something had to be going on and I was not going to miss it! Then, two days before I received the reunion info, photos from our graduation and prom night dropped out of a book I had! God works in mysterious ways.

My laughter, joy and (even some tears) have come from a place of happiness and triumph by sharing time with you, each one of you! Maybe one day I will be able to explain the tears to you.

Well, as of today, Tuesday, August 11, my toes are still numb (lol), my voice is gone, my throat is sore, my eyes are burning because I've never kept my contacts on for three days straight and I'm still kind of hungry because I didn't get to eat very much of all that fantastic food! Lord, y'all can cook!

I enjoyed the dancing, the screaming, the tears, the praising, the preaching, the singing, the heat & sun, the dressing up, the wonderful familiar faces, the hugs & kisses, the renewed friendships, the Soul Train line, the anxiety, the shopping for the perfect reunion dress, the swings and moonbounce at the park (yes, I took advantage of the moon bounce!) and out of all this joy I now have wonderful memories because of my Tech '79 classmates.

I hope I've made connections that will stand for a very, very long time or just about forever from this point.

I love you all and wish you only the best in life as we move forward with God's blessings.

If you need a friend, a shoulder, a fun conversation, an exercise bud, or a place to go dancing contact me. :)

My heart is so full. It's hard to express how I feel. I'm so glad that I decided to parttake in the planning process for our 30 year reunion. It has been a wonderful experience. I love planning events. I knew it would be Awesome, but never to the "Hundredth Power." Starting with the Pre-Meet/Greets (Stone Fish/Willy Ks), then the Prayer Breakfast(wonderful), Exercise/Dance classes (fun was had by all) climaxing to the official Reunion Weekend. Wow! is all I can say. Thank you Committe for allowing me the opportunity to participate. Hope everyone had a "Great Time". I know I did. See you all at "Homecoming". I wear the name "Techite" proudly.

Ms. Linda Gray (Biology Teacher/Cheerleading Sponsor)

I knew that this was going to be a fabulous event from the moment I saw the website. The planning committee pulled this off with a great deal of professionalism and that good "ole" Tech spirit.

As I told you before, this event was symbolic for me because it represented the beginning of my career and it was so good seeing so many of you. I'm sure I can speak on behalf of all your teachers that seeing you makes us proud that we became teachers. Keep enjoying life and look me up for your 50th. (smile)

You were a class act in 79 and now you're just classy.

I truly enjoyed myself this weekend. My only regret is that I didn't attend more events.

Thanks to ever single person that had a hand in this most memorable occasion. An event like this only happens once in a lifetime.

Truly the class of 1979 can look back and say JESUS WHAT A WONDER YOU ARE!!

As we move forward from this point, think on the words of Bishop Paul S. Morton's song Be Blessed, "You pray for me and I'll pray for you, watch God change things."

Remember there is NOTHING to hard for God!!

Be Blessed
Michelle
