I attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. While at OU, I became a member of the Kappa Sweethearts and was a jazz DJ on the university radio station. In 1981, I joined the U.S. Army Reserves and received my commission as an officer in 1983.
Early in my senior year, I left college -- short-term mistake marriage (long story) -- and remained in Ohio working with the U.S. Army Reserves as an Adjutant General Officer, transferred to the Ohio Army National Guard and then back to the Reserves, working as a Public Affairs Officer for both components.
I returned to DC in 1989, shortly thereafter met and married the love of my life, James M. Chandler ("Mike") in 1993, and we now have the most wonderful children in the universe: Damon, Nicole and Alexis, and now a grandson, Kaden. I went back to school and graduated cum laude from UDC. I left the Army with the rank of Captain in 1998 to finish school and take care of my growing family and my parents.
After several years as a civilian doing mostly government contracting, I found what I was meant to do: I am now a real estate professional with Keller Williams Preferred Properties. I am licensed in Maryland and DC (with plans to become licensed in Virginia in 2022 and North Carolina in 2023), and I work with residential and commercial buyers, sellers, and investors. My specialties include seniors, probate, military relocations, and first-time homebuyers. And, at my so-called advanced age, I am considering attending law school (real estate law) in 2023 or 2024.
