(btw - if you noticed I used the name 'Harvey' in my original post -- I renamed him back in 1979 so I always called him that -- he used to laugh and allowed me to do so.  So, it's sort of an inside joke.  My mind just slipped when I sent y'all the note (lol) -- creature of some habits!!

I was able to attend the viewing for Mr. Graham.  Needless to say that the viewing was packed-standing room only.  Indeed this was a tribute to the life of Mr. Graham and the indelible impact that he had on the lives of his family, his colleagues and his students.  In fact, several of his students became his "godchildren."  I was amazed at the level of his commitment to teaching, even after his tenure at McKinley.  It is UNDENIABLE that his "mark" in the Educational arena will live on in the lives of those that he touched.  Rest In Paradise Mr. Graham.

I was not aware of Mr Graham's passing.  I will continue to keep his family lifted up in prayer.  I always enjoyed atending his class.  R.I.P.

I just read the email message about the passing of Mr Pritchett.  For sure my thoughts and prayers are with his family, but truly as Mr Pritchett's spirit transitions, I hope he knows just how huge an impact he had on some of us at Tech!  His passion for teaching was old school and truly inspirational.  Nothing thrilled him more than when he saw the light come on in YOUR head concerning a concept he was teaching.  The more curious you became the more excited he became.  That dude changed my life.  His ability to inspire you to see beyond your current capabilities, and push you to reach further than you could see never left me.  His instruction of Ohm's Law got me through 10 months of intense basic electronics and Avionics training in the Air Force.  He is a key reason I had a sucessful 30 year career of service.  I still see his face right there as we built and tested circuits, his hand on our shoulder as encouragement to wonder.  His classic removing of his glasses and biting the end as he contemplated his answer to your questions.  Mr Pritchett was a huge reason this NW dude embraced his NE High School, and came to love it as much as I do.  As he carries on, I hope he knows that he did not just make a difference, to some of us, he was THE difference.

Until we meet again good sir

Walter E. Greene Jr class of 79

I'm sitting here reading Walter's remembrance of Mr. Pritchett and am moved.   Walter, if there is some way you can send this to his family, I'm quite sure it would really mean a lot to them.  To know someone you loved made such an impact on another person's life for this many years speaks volumes to Mr. Pritchett's character as well as to his profession as a teacher.  Many people will send his family sympathy cards, but to receive a heartfelt tribute like yours would be beautiful!   God bless and Happy Holidays to the amazing class of 79!

Walter ... I'm not sure if we know one another ...  (It's been soooo long) ...  Maybe if you post a pic or two ... :) But I ditto Sabrina's sentiments.  I knew who Mr. Pritchett was, but I didn't really have any interaction with him.  What you indicated about him though is exactly how I felt about some other teachers  -- both in McKinley and in my Junior High School (Langley) ...  One of the first that comes to mind is Mrs. Elliott (our classmate, Benita Elliott's Mom) ... She made an everlasting impression on me while at Langley!  I am so very grateful to God for giving us teachers who truly cared about us!!  The Class of '79 was and is and always will be!!  heart

Sorry it took soo long to respond to your messages.  Sabrina, thanks for your suggestion.  I contacted the funeral home and asked that they forward my message to the family.  You were on point with your sentiment and I appreciated the nudge.

Charmaine, thank you for the advise with the website.  I was able to change my location to Hawaii.  I do not think we knew each other at Tech.  We had a huge class though, as I recall, close to a grand i think.  I will be sure to look for you and say hello at the next reunion I'm able to make.  I agree that there were many teachers that had an impact even though I did not realize it at the time.  Mr Graham was my homeroom teacher and a good friend of my Father (Teacher/Coach at Phelps HS).  Even though I did not take any classes from him, I did see the impact he had on other folks...another inspirational gentleman.  I really should update my info like you suggested.  My friends give me the same grief about my Facebook page.  LOL

I hope you both have a very Merry Christmas and an outstanding new year

Walt Greene

I ran into James Lagon at the supermarket this morning and he informed me of the passing of Rochelle!

I last saw her at the Class of '79 happy hour in July 2015/Stone Fish in New Carrollton, MD -- she was as beautiful and friendly as always!!

May God wrap his blanket of comfort around her family and each of you!

Continued peace and blessings!
