Hey Class of '79 -- The planning committee wants to thank you for your efforts in helping us to reach as many classmates as we can! We can't do this without YOU !!! Do you remember how long it took us to get through all the names that night, June 5, 1979? We've got a long way to go... but PLEASE, if you know of any classmates or especially if you just run into folks... please direct them to this website and/or get their contact information and pass it forward to one of us on the committee! THANKS EVERYBODY !!!! :o)

This site is awesome. I have enjoyed looking at the "then and now" photos. Marion thank you and all who assisted you in getting this site up and going. I am working to make contact with a few people on the list who have not yet completed their profiles. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. I think Rhonda's idea to do some type of service project as part of the reunion is great.

Marion,

You are a genius in your own right! This is a wonderful site. It has really touched my heart to be able to communicate with my former classmates and to revisit the pass. It's not a day that goes by that I don't log on! Thanks to all of you for the wonderful work you all are doing putting together our 30th reunion. It is truly a blessing that you all are unselfishly taking your time to do this for all of us. I'm so excited and looking forward to seeing everyone. God bless you all!

PS:

Would someone tell Barry Scott that he is not a TECHITE! LOL!!!!

Thanks Charmaine and everyone else who kept asking. I just located Tim's obit. Scanning it today and will post.

Even with all the busyness we have to remind ourselves to STOP and take the time.

Deceased Classmates

If anyone knew Janice Coleman or Jeannette Donald please contact Charmaine Thrower Franklin and Angie Rowe Garner and copy me on the email. We are trying to determine their date of death so the year of death can be updated on the 'In Memory' page of the website.

Also, if you have a recent photo, funeral program and/or obituary for any of the classmates on the 'In Memory' page who do not have that information on their page, please contact me. I would like to upload the information to the website.

=====

Thanks to everyone for all the positive feedback on the website. It is greatly appreciated.

Rhonda Moore (Holder)

I have attended both 10 and 20 year reunions and I must say that our 30th reunion is the most exciting. We have some "Movers & Shakers" among us. This is my first time working on the reunion committee and I am truly enjoying it. Assisting in the process and anxiously awaiting the end results makes it all worth while.

Hi classmates,

The alumni event at McKinley last night (Thursday, April 23) was the highlight of my day. Stepping back into the gym after 25-30 years! Wow! I felt so much excitement, joy and delight as I saw Techites of '79 walk up to our tables.

"McKinley... Tech! Tech! '79!!!!

Our school has grown even better and stronger... we all should be proud.

Looking forward to seeing more classmates soon.... very soon.... this Saturday at the Meet & Greet.

Stay blessed... Sherri

ps-- thanks to James for hooking us up with McKinley of 2009!! When's the tour?! LOL

To the Members of the Class of 1979 who ventured out to the "Meet-N-Greet" at StoneFish Grill last night... YOU BLEW US AWAY WITH YOUR PRESENCE AND YOUR GENEROSITY !!!

Words cannot truly express or do justice when I try to say "Thank You" -- the love, joy and fellowship that was in that place last night... SO MANY CLASSMATES CAME OUT and the fun and comraderie was unimagined.

To be able to reconnect with so many after 30 years was PRICELESS !!! I BELIEVE THAT WE TRULY WERE - ARE - WILL BE THE GREATEST CLASS THAT McKINLEY EVER HAD!

Please help the planning committee to get the word out to reach those 500 other classmates who have not registered on this site. :o)

Looking forward to the next event (coming soon)...

Simply put . . . .

I HAD A BLAST AT THE MEET N GREET! ! !

It was wonderful reconnecting with so many wonderful classmates and starting new relationships with some that I didnt already know. . . There is no doubt that we were the ABSOLUTE BEST CLASS to graduate from McKinley!!!

Tonya Thompson

Class of 79, the meet and greet was AWESOME!!. It was so good to talk with and reconnect with old friends and classmates. Kudos to the planning committee. I had brunch at Tony and Joes today and ran into our class sponsor, Mr. Wilder. I showed him some pictures from last night and he said he would have been there, had he known about it. He told some folks he was with that I was one his students and that we were celebrating our 30 year reunion. How good did I feel when they said to me, there's no way you've been out of high school 30 years, I bet you get carded all the time. Well that being said, I just have to say Class of 79, DANG we look goooood!!!!!!! Looking forward to the next event.

04/27/09 09:50 AM #53

Gloria J Wilder (Magruder)

I concur with the sentiments of Tonya...we look FABULOUS, and the best is yet to come. Saturday evening was and will be one of the most memorable times in this short life. It was great to see you all and the out pouring of LOVE from each of you. I felt like I took a few steps back in time.

I too felt the presence of a spirit that has transformed us into who we've become for such a great GOD. If I never get a chance to see or spend another moment in your presence Class of 79 Family I Love You ALL to LIFE!!

The event Saturday night was truly awesome. I know at least 5000 pictures were taken (4500 of them by Darryl Austin's wife :-)). But.....when are we going to get to see them?? Come on folks, THREE whole days have passed. This isn't 1979 when you had to take your film to People's Drug Store and wait a week for them to be MAILED to you or return to pick them up in person!!!! Come on photographers!!!!

04/28/09 09:53 AM #55

Darryl Austin

Hey everyone my wife took about 200 pictures and she is making a cd of them to give to Charmine Thrower. The MEET-N-Greet was great and it was good to see so many old friends.I am definitely looking forward to the reunion in August.

This site is simply amazing! Thanks to all the talented people in the class of 79 who are making it happen.

The Meet & Greet....what can I say. I was filled to overflowing with an overwhelming excitement. God have truly been good to us all. There was such a spirit of genuine love in the place. Saturday is a day I will never forget and you can best believe it will not be another 30 years before I have contact with you all again.
Much love to each and everyone of you!
