WOW....this is becoming overwhelming.  Recently there has been quite a few classmates that I actually remember very well and considered friends while at McKinley that have passed.  I remember Bobby and George Branch being very close friends while in school so to hear of their passing so close together is shocking to say the least.  I took a number of classes with both of them as well as Sandra Cunningham.  I have fond memories of all three of them.

I pray for God's grace and mercy to cover Bobby's family and friends with comfort during this difficult time.

I also pray for God's grace and mercy for the rest of our class of 79 who are still here.

Awesome!  I'm so proud of you, Tracy.  Hearing of your most recent accomplishment brings back fond memories of when we played on the middle school basketball team together at Langley. I also had the pleasure of playing on the Tech football team with you and you were the best.

Below is a copy of a letter that was posted on the Class of '79's Facebook page. Please read below and if you are able to assist with this endeavor, please do so!  Even though the letter mentions a deadline ... I have spoken to two members of the MTAA Scholarship Committee and both have indicated that it is not too late to contribute.  This is a worthy cause!   I've already sent my donation!  Hope you will also!  Be Blessed!

Subject: Scholarship Donations!!! WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

Dear McKinley Tech Alumni and Friends,

We still need your HELP for Scholarship Donations!!!!! It's not too late!!!!

Today was to be the 38th Annual McKinley Tech Scholarship Dinner/Dance that has been cancelled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Although we deeply hoped that things would tremendously improve, based on continuous guidance from the CDC and the love for our fellow classmates and friends, the MTAA/GT Board felt that moving the event to next year 2021 would be the best and safest decision for all.

Over the past 37 years your McKinley Tech Alumni Association (MTAA) has awarded monetary scholarships to graduating seniors at McKinley Tech High School. Donations from the ticket sales of the annual dinner dance is the principle fundraiser for awarding the scholarships to graduating seniors.

Our objective is to stay the course by continuing to provide scholarships for the upcoming 2021 graduating class.  MTAA IS ASKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

Please send your tax-deductible donation in support of our scholars by Saturday, November 28, 2020 via Check, Money Order, or PayPal.

Check or Money Order Donations

payable and mail to:

MTAA

PO Box 755

I am so deeply sadden to hear of the passing of Noelle Vaughn.  She and I go way back.  That was my girl! It's ironic that she reached out to me bck in 2016 to find out about Cookie's passing and she was talking about how unbelievable it was that so many of our classmates had passed away!  That goes to show you, we never know what God has in store for our life, therefore, we need to live each day to the fullest and pray and love on one another while we are still here!  Rest in Paradise my beautiful beloved friend.  Gone but will never be forgotten.  Love you Chicka!
